Sometimes having conservative expectations can lead to pleasant surprises. Such was the case for the International Consumer Electronics Show, which recently learned it had exceeded original attendance projections for its 2011 event held Jan. 6-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

According to an independent, third-party audit performed by Veris Consulting, the world's largest consumer technology show attracted 149,529 attendees – up from the initial projection of 140,000 – and drew a record-breaking international attendance of 31,677 visitors, a 30-percent jump from 2010.

Last year's show, owned by the Consumer Electronics Association, was ranked No. 1 on the 2010 TSNN Top 250 and drew 130,000 attendees.
